Name, opinions don't "hurt", they only hurt if one is unable to accept differences, I just find your opinions in ridicule.
Whats wrong with western influences?
Mind you, westerners have had asian influences themselves? Spaghetti was said to originate from Marco Polo's discovery of noodles in China.

Who thinks that? Speak for yourself! There are a lot of shortcommings in western values and society.
About role models, is it wrong to actually admire and learn from the best? I'm looking at this realistically!
There are 1.3 Billion Muslims but only 300k muslim scientists, the states has 1.1 million scientists, Japan has 700k scientists.
Einstien, Newton, Copernicus, Gallileo, Friedman, Adam Smith, J.M. Keynes. They have contributed to world knowledge, as we speak cutting edge break throughs are not being made in Kuala Lumpur, but in "Western" countries. Should we damn western countries for their scientific prowess? You might be plagued with polio if it wasn't for the westerner Dr. Jonas Salk working at his lab in Uni of Pittsburgh. Should we damn him for his "western" scientific work?
What has usury got to do with economics and "managing the economy", specifically the Malaysian economy being "bind to their way"? We aren't a major financial hub like Singapore or Hong Kong. Our economy is quite heavily dependant on manufacturing!!! Is this now a western import? If so is this so bad? If it hadn't been for manufacturing, you and I would still be out in the padi fields of rural Malaysia.
You think being independent means divorcing western ways of doing things? Then You ARE A FOOL!
If what you claim to be independent is living without foreign knowledge, then you are out of touch. As hard as it is for you to accept, the world economy revolves around the western world. Australia is 5 times larger the economy than us. It is better to be humble and learn from these westerners then be a proud fool and ignorant. Claiming we should be "independent"?? Hahhh!!
We are independent, we make our own policies, we have our own judiciary, if independence of mind set means to divorce western knowledge, then that is ignorance, for whatever that we can say bad about the west they are making the break throughs right now. The reason for this is people like you Name, people that are too proud, people that are unwilling to accept western idea's simply because they are foriegn and not of your own.
As men, we gain more by learning from each other. Swallow your pride!

this is my personal opinion ok? sorry if it hurts. yes, we are independent physically. but, is our mind free from their (western) influence? we always think that they are the best. our role models are definitely people come from their country. we look up on them especially the celebrities. women would always want to keep up-to-date with their fashion statements.
and how about our economy? we do still bind with their way or managing economy. we do take usury. interest etc. is that allowed in your religion?
