My critique of the Malaysian modern society.

Firstly it is my belief we don't have a modern society.
What does modernity and a modern society consist of,
what does it mean? What is nessecary in a modern society?

In Malaysia, specifically modern Malaysia, i.e. Kuala Lumpur,
Much effort has been spent to acquire modern trappings, the
images of modernism.

The question that must be asked is this, to have a modern city, society,
mean acquiring fancy skyscrapers, acquiring the trappings??

We as a society have acquired a whole gambit of these images and trappings,
however without understanding what a modern society is,
these... (more)

A picture of Zagreb, If anything this has got to be the closest thing to my hometown. I have most of my memories in Zagreb, I really know this place. This picture is of the main square, trg banjelacic, to the left would be algoritham a decent book store, straight and behind the ZET tram is Tkalciceva Ulica, a nice cafe/pub district. To the right is Kaptol and Dolac. How I miss it all, I'm wondering how much has changed. Sigh....

Re-colonisation

I find politics in Malaysia to be scary. I'm just not impressed by comments of some who hold political office.

Umno Youth head Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the appointment of a foreigner to lead the nationally-owned company could be likened to allowing Malaysia to be re-colonised, albeit in a new manner.

Sorry, I don't see the validity of this arguement. Perhaps I'm daft.

Nissan once the bastion of japanese national pride was turned around to a successful company after it hired Carlos Ghosn, Nissan was on a downward spiral, Ghosn did exactly this, he turned the company around.... (more)

Is our nation 48 years old? Our Malaysia that is? We must not forget that Malaysia was a concept given birth 42 years ago, which at that time consisted of Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore and the Federation of Malaya, Singapore departed our newly formed nation after 2 years, I wont comment further than that. The 31st August celebration is a celebrating a political concept which doesn't exist anymore. We are no longer a country called Malaya! Our nation of Malaysia only came to existance 42 years ago, not on the 31st of August 1957 but September 16th 1963. Should we not celebrate our national day on... (more)

I crave Laksa Utargha (mind the intonation)!! I am at uni and I crave it so much!! Hmmm..

I can make it, I've made it about one month ago and it was actually the real deal. Only problem is it takes too bloody long. Quite a tedious process. If there is anyone out there who has the same cravings as me, contact me. We can cook together. I reckon if there's 2 of us cooking, prep time is halved. heck if there's 3, perhaps prep time can be reduced even further. Contact me and we shall have create laksa!!
